On 26th May 2015 the first project lesson in Faculty of Clinical Engineering of Bucharest was organised, with the participation of about 50 students, department head and some teachers.
Patrick Ouriaghli, director of Ateliere Fara Frontiere (project partner), presented to the students of the third and final year the Life-MED project, its objectives, partners, next steps and the expected results until June 2017. During the lecture the importance of reducing waste and encouraging reuse of equipment was reiterated and it has been proposed to the students to be active part of the new integrated system, supporting the project through a launch of a solidarity path in order to help the poorest health institutions to take advantage of the most suitable equipment. The contact person of AF also encouraged students to participate as volunteers of future apprentices in the laboratory of recovery of medical equipment of organisation and that is operational since the beginning of 2016.
The students and their teachers showed great interest, as well as being very challenging for them to know that the first shipment of regenerated medical equipment from Italy to Romania was sent to the Faculty of Clinical Engineering in Bucharest and to the student organisation ASIM with which AFF has signed a partnership agreement on the same day. In this way students will experience what they learnt at University, becoming competent professionals and figure necessary to the Romanian health system.
